Franklin Covey 4DX

PROJECT DETAILS

Project Overview: Franklin Covey needed an internal tool to measure the effectiveness of their consultants implementation process with new clients.

‍

Prior to this tool, there was no way to measure successful consultant implementation and onboarding of clients

‍

To address this issue, I broke down the different stages that are measured in the onboarding and determined the calculation that would provide a point score for each consultant

Ideation and Design

In the project's early stages, it was critical to understand the different roles inside Franklin Covey that would be included in this internal scoreboard which required meticulous user research. This research influenced the calculation  and how the data would be visually represented. It was also important to understand the amount of clients/companies a consultant could have to help determine the constraints of the feature.

‍

After user research, I compiled a lists of "Rules" that help guide the visual design. This checklist serves as the process from wireframe, prototype, to development.

Final Design

The final design was composed of components that allowed consultants to select roles within Franklin Covey and compare their efforts with others in the same role and organization with a simple point feature. Within each role, consultants were able to toggle between different members of the team and drill down into the data to help provide a more complete picture successful vs unsuccessful onboarding

‍

Challenges

The 4dx platform can be quite confusing and the data is quite complicated. I was contracted with the purpose to simplify a very complex structure so that it was easy to determine success at a glance.

Because the platform was previously complex, presenting a simplified design with many modifications/removals created a challenge when presenting to stakeholders. It was key to focus on the purpose of the feature and how this simplified design best fulfilled that purpose.

‍

Results

The hypothesis of this feature was that consultants within Franklin Covey are highly competitive and thrive off of competition. This proved to be true as the internal leaderboard led to a 31% increase in successful implementations of the 4dx system within organizations.
