Project Overview: MyStreaks aimed to pioneer a unique social feed feature, fostering connections and mutual support among users to enhance their self-improvement journeys.
Problem: Traditional productivity apps primarily focus on tracking tasks but often overlook the importance of community and accountability. Users yearn for encouragement and recognition to sustain their streaks.
Challenges:
While social media platforms abound, crafting a social feed tailored to self-improvement posed a distinct challenge. We needed to design a feed that would seamlessly integrate with MyStreaks core purpose without transforming it into a generic social media platform.
Solutions:
Through user interviews we found that users were having incredible experiences from their streaks and had content they were willing to post. Our solution involved introducing two distinct types of content in the social feed: Posts and Proofs. Proofs are images or photos that only last 24hrs to showcase the streak they completed that day, while posts are more permanent and find a home on the user's profile. To ensure the feed's distinctiveness and prevent it from resembling typical social media platforms, we established a unique connection between each post and proof and the user's streak.
Results and Impact:
The introduction of the social feed was a game-changer for MyStreaks, propelling it into a league that blended self-improvement with social media, a groundbreaking innovation. This transformative feature drove a sevenfold increase in the average time users spent on the app, underscoring its tremendous success.
